Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said, “The Syrian people and the peoples of the region believe today that Iran is a strong pillar on which they can rely,” and that his visit to Syria marked a turning point in the development of relations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Raisi described his two-day visit to Syria as “of great importance to the two countries, as it comes after 12 years of steadfastness of the Syrian people and their government, with the support of Iran, in the face of plots and sedition of enemies.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Raisi stressed that “this visit represents a turning point in expanding economic, commercial, political and security relations between Iran and Syria.” He also considered that “on the other hand, the visit expresses appreciation for the resistance and steadfastness of the Syrian people and their government in the face of enemy attacks.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Raisi added, “The change in circumstances in favor of the Syrian people and the region has become evident after 12 years of resistance,” and that “Iran and Syria have good opportunities and conditions to enhance economic and commercial cooperation by establishing a bank and joint insurance companies and zeroing commercial tariffs between the two countries, as well as expanding transit business between Iran, Iraq and Syria.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Raisi pointed out that “the cooperation documents signed between the two countries also included Iran’s contribution to improving the Syrian agricultural sector, industry and energy sectors, and facilitating tourism and travel for the citizens of the two countries.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Raisi also touched on his spontaneous meetings with the Syrian people at the beginning of the visit and in Al-Hamidiya market in Damascus, and said that “these meetings revealed the Syrians’ intimate relationship, respect and appreciation for the leader of the revolution.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He continued,: “The Syrian people today and the peoples of the region are convinced that Iran has become a strong pillar and a tall tree with a firm origin, which can be relied upon and trusted.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
