Minister of Justice, Dr. Khaled Shawani, visited today, Sunday, the Egyptian Ministry of Justice and met with Counselor Omar Marwan, in response to a previous invitation by his Egyptian counterpart.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the depth and development of the relationship between the two brotherly countries in various fields, especially in the legal and justice fields, and its organization through agreements and memorandums of understanding in the fields of training, exchange of experiences and transfer of convicts between the two countries.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Shawani reviewed the government’s vision to develop the legal and judicial reality and the direction to carry out reforms at all levels and in line with the government’s curriculum, especially in the areas of electronic automation, combating corruption, prison reform, observance of human rights standards, and rehabilitation programs to remove extremism in all its forms.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Minister appreciated the support of the Republic of Egypt in hosting the thirty-ninth session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice in Baghdad.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The two sides discussed the conditions of the inmates between the two countries and the conclusion of memorandums of understanding for the purpose of transferring them to complete their sentences each inside his country in accordance with the laws and regulations that preserve the security and sovereignty of the two countries, as well as the exchange of experiences, and visits between officials of the two ministries for the purpose of benefiting from them.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The meeting also witnessed a discussion of the file of Iraqi prisoners in Egypt and a study of the possibility of exchanging convicts, as well as the files of foreign cases before the Egyptian arbitration bodies.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Justice affirmed Egypt’s support for the Republic of Iraq in hosting the next session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, stressing that Iraq plays an important role within the Arab League.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
