Chairman of Senate’s Labour Committee, Issa Murad, on Sunday discussed with Chilean Ambassador to Jordan, Jorge Tagle, ways to enhance bilateral relations in various fields. Murad said bilateral relations at various levels are based on mutual respect to serve common interests, highlighting the need to enhance joint investments, increase trade exchange volume, and remove obstacles impeding development of joint economic and trade ties. Murad also noted importance of discussing ways to stimulate establishment of an Arab-Chilean Chamber of Commerce and cooperate with air freight companies. In a related context, he urged follow up on the latest developments to operate regular shipping routes for goods with the Gulf Council Cooperation (GCC) countries to expand volume of Jordan’s trade exchange in several commodities. This projected exchange should focus primarily on food products and cooperation in exchange of fertilizer potash and phosphate products, similar to some other South American countries, which achieved “significant” success in this field, he added. Noting Jordan’s tourism sector “boom ” at the regional level, he said number of tourists coming from Chile does not exceed 3,000 visitors annually, which affirms need to overcome hardships to stimulate tourism flow from this western South America nation. He lauded Jordanian embassy’s efforts in Santiago, after it organized a visit of Jordanian economic sectors’ leaders to Chile last year. For his part, the envoy highlighted importance to follow up on multiple joint cooperation aspects, stressing his country’s continuous endeavor to develop its relations with Jordan in various fields, to serve common interests and expand trade exchange volume, especially since Chilean food products are popular in Europe and the region’s countries. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
