Al-Allama Al-Khatib Participates in Tehran Conference Honoring Late Supreme Leader

Tehran: Islamic Shiite Supreme Council Vice Head, Al-Allama Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, joined the international conference in Tehran paying tribute to Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The event is part of the official mourning ceremonies concluding next Thursday. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the conference, held at Tehran's Conference Palace, was attended by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and delegations from around 100 countries. Among the attendees were Lebanese representatives from the Islamic Shiite Supreme Council, the Amal Movement, Hezbollah, and several Islamic parties and religious figures. Pezeshkian, in his opening remarks, stated that Iran's adversaries had not succeeded in their attempts to weaken the country by targeting its leadership. He emphasized the importance of national unity and Islamic solidarity in countering what he termed the "American-Zionist campaign." He commended the late Supreme Leader as a symbol of independence and resilience, and promised to uphol d his approach while reaffirming Iran's dedication to defending its interests and principles. On Saturday evening, Lebanon's Ambassador to Iran, Ahmad Sweid, hosted a dinner in honor of Sheikh Al-Khatib and his delegation, which included representatives from Amal, Hezbollah, and Iranian officials. Former Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was also present, and discussions centered on developments in Lebanon and the region. On Friday evening, Sheikh Al-Khatib visited the Amal Movement headquarters in Tehran. Salah Fahs, the Movement Office Head, hosted a dinner in his honor, which was attended by the delegation and Ambassador Sweid. Sheikh Al-Khatib also held a meeting with Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, head of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly. He expressed gratitude for Iran's support to Lebanon, the Resistance, and the Shiite community. During the meeting, Al-Khatib stated that Iran's resilience against the "American-Zionist aggression" had helped protect the wider region from further escalation. Ayatollah Ramazani expressed appreciation for Al-Khatib's visit and lauded the steadfastness of the Lebanese people during the aggression. He affirmed that the Islamic Republic would continue to stand with the Lebanese people in this confrontation, regardless of the sacrifices required. On Sunday morning, Al-Khatib and his delegation traveled to the city of Qom to visit the Shrine of Lady Fatima Masumeh and engage in meetings with senior religious authorities and seminary officials.
