Member of the “Strong Republic” parliamentary bloc, MP Razi Al-Hajj, contacted this afternoon Caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Al-Mawlawi, asking him to “strictly pursue the culprits following confirmation that the fires in Roumieh were erroneous,” after a new fire that broke out in the other part of the town’s forests and at different & separate points.

Al-Hajj called for “strict accountability, with severe provisions for those responsible for the fires, to prevent disregard for Lebanon’s remaining natural wealth.”

In this context, he indicated that “Mawlawi assured him that the fire was under control and the mechanisms would remain on alert, stressing on efforts underway to prosecute the perpetrators.”

Al-Hajj also contacted the Head of the Service and Operations Division in the Civil Defense, Mansour Srour, to have updates on the latest developments with regards to the fires.
