AL-HALABI LAYS WREATH AT MARTYR PRESIDENT MOAWAD’S STATUE MARKING INDEPENDENCE DAY

Marking Lebanon’s 79th Independence Day, Caretaker Minister of Education and Higher Learning Abbas al-Halabi laid a floral wreath this afternoon, on behalf of the Lebanese Republic, in front of the memorial statue in the locality of Al-Zarif where Martyr President Rene Moawad was assassinated.

MPs Michel Moawad, Ashraf Rifi and Fouad Makhzoumi, and the wife of the late President Moawad, Mrs. Nayla, alongside Brigadier General Ahmed Adra representing the Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, were present at the occasion.

A crowd of friends and family members of late President Moawad also gathered to pay tribute to his memory on this national day.
