Beirut: Lebanon's mobile operator Alfa on Thursday launched its 5G service in coordination with the Communications Ministry. In a statement, the company said it had permanently reactivated the 5G base stations that were temporarily deployed during Pope Leo XIV's visit to Lebanon.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Alfa said the service is now available in Downtown Beirut, Antelias, Dekwaneh, the Port of Beirut area, and the Presidential Palace in Baabda. The rollout comes amid rising internet demand linked to the increase in arrivals to Lebanon.

The company announced plans to gradually expand 5G coverage in the coming phase to Dbayeh, Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport, Adlieh, and Jounieh. Alfa intends to activate 75 additional stations across several other areas, which will be announced later.
