Beirut: President Joseph Aoun arrived at Ankara Military Airport on Thursday afternoon to commence an official visit to Turkey, where he is scheduled to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other senior Turkish officials.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun was welcomed by Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, who is accompanying the visit, along with local officials and Lebanon's ambassador to Turkey, Mounir Anouti. This visit underscores the importance of diplomatic relations between Lebanon and Turkey.

The Lebanese president made a visit to the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatrk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. During his visit, Aoun laid a wreath, observed a minute of silence, and signed the visitors' book. In his message, Aoun honored Atatrk's leadership in rebuilding Turkey, highlighting his dedication to establishing a republic grounded in the rule of law and robust institutions. Aoun remarked that Atatrk's efforts continue to inspire nations striving to build resilient states.

An official welcoming ceremony at the presidential palace was planned for later on Thursday, followed by talks with President Erdogan. These discussions are likely to focus on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing regional issues of mutual concern.
