Ukrainian Ambassador to Lebanon Ihor Ostash visited today the ancient Baalbek Citadel, as part of the preparations his embassy is making to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence Day.
Welcoming Ostash and his accompanying delegation was Baalbek Mayor Fouad Blouq, who congratulated him on his country’s National Day, wishing the Ukrainian people “all love, goodness, progress and prosperity.”
“We are pleased and honored to have you visit this city and its historical castle, and we hope that these visits will continue, and that tourists will flock to our city to visit its archaeological, heritage and natural sites. Baalbek opens the doors of its homes and hearts to every guest and every visitor,” Blouq added.
In turn, the Ukrainian ambassador presented to Blouq a book containing information documented by the Ukrainian orientalist traveler Vasily Barsky about Baalbek and its history and about Saint Barbara.
Ostash also thanked the Baalbek mayor and members of the municipal council for their warm reception and hospitality, hoping for continuous peace and goodness for Baalbek and its people and for all the Lebanese.
