Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, met with French President Emmanuel Macron at the ‚¬°lys©e Palace ahead of the preparatory meeting for the Paris conference aimed at supporting the Lebanese Army and security forces under the Aqaba initiative. The discussion between the two leaders focused on collaborative efforts to halt Israeli attacks amidst ongoing Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations and the framework agreement.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, President Aoun expressed gratitude to President Macron for France's continued support for Lebanon. He appreciated Macron's personal involvement in monitoring Lebanon's situation and his dedication to reinforcing the country's state authority and sovereignty, as well as supporting its official, security, and military institutions.
During the meeting, Aoun commended the initiative launched by President Macron and the Italian Prime Minister concerning the period following the conclusion of UNIFIL's mandate. Both leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining communication and enhancing cooperation in various sectors, with particular emphasis on economic and energy collaboration. They also discussed the resumption of oil and gas exploration in Lebanon's offshore blocks.
