Baabda: President of the Republic Joseph Aoun received Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace this morning, where they discussed the general situation in the country and developments in southern Lebanon amid ongoing Israeli attacks.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the talks focused on the continued strikes and their expansion to several southern towns and villages, particularly in the districts of Tyre and Nabatieh, as well as ongoing destruction of homes, demolition of buildings, and damage to historical sites in the south. They also addressed repeated threats to civilians and calls for residents to leave their homes and livelihoods.

Both officials agreed to intensify diplomatic contacts to put an end to what they described as condemned Israeli practices. They also reviewed the outcome of the meeting held in Washington between Lebanese, American, and Israeli military delegations, including the discussions that took place, during which the Lebanese side reiterated its commitment to a priority ceasefire.

The meeting further addressed preparations for the next round of negotiations scheduled for June 2-3, as well as the overall security situation in the country and the daily monitoring of internally displaced persons forced from their homes and property.
