Aoun Arrives in Paris for Strategic Talks on Lebanon’s Security and Regional Stability

Paris: President of the Republic Joseph Aoun has landed at Paris-Le Bourget Airport, marking the start of a crucial visit aimed at securing international backing for Lebanon's military and security forces. During his arrival, Aoun expressed gratitude to France for its steadfast support of Lebanon's constitutional, military, and security institutions.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, President Aoun highlighted the imperative role of the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces in maintaining the nation's sovereignty and stability. Emphasizing the importance of bolstering their personnel and logistical capabilities, Aoun called for international aid to address these needs. His participation in an upcoming preparatory meeting for the international conference in support of the Army and ISF underscores Lebanon's dedication to reinforcing state authority and enhancing state institutions.

Aoun is scheduled to engage in talks with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the forthcoming conference preparations, ongoing developments in Lebanon, particularly in the South, and the situation following the conclusion of the UNIFIL mission. These discussions will also touch on the Lebanese-US-Israeli negotiating track and wider regional matters. Additionally, Aoun expressed gratitude to Jordan's King Abdullah II for his initiatives supporting Lebanon, including the preparatory meeting in Paris.

In a separate statement, Aoun condemned the attempted targeting of Mecca, asserting that attacks on holy sites, irrespective of political motives, are a violation of religious and humanitarian standards. He called for a unified Arab and Islamic response to such threats and reiterated Lebanon's solidarity with Saudi Arabia. Aoun also commended the Saudi armed forces for safeguarding the holy sites and ensuring the safety of worshippers, residents, and visitors.
