Aoun Chairs Cabinet Session; Holds Talks on Security, Governance, and Cultural Affairs

Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, is set to chair a cabinet session on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Baabda Palace. The session will address a 28-item agenda that includes agreements, legislative proposals, draft decrees, and appointments, alongside functional and regulatory matters.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, earlier in the day, President Aoun engaged in a series of meetings focusing on political, security, administrative, and cultural issues. He met Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Tarek Mitri, who updated him on recent visits to Qatar and France, as well as the activities of key ministerial committees. These committees are tackling critical issues such as public sector reform, digital transformation, the Syrian refugee situation, and violations of international humanitarian law by Israel.

In a high-level security and administrative meeting, President Aoun convened with Interior Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Hajjar and senior security officials. The meeting evaluated the operations of the Interior Ministry, highlighting the second phase of municipal elections held in North Lebanon and Akkar.

Culture Minister Dr. Ghassan Salam© also engaged with President Aoun on national and cultural matters, discussing forward-looking plans for the ministry. MP William Tawk focused on municipal election outcomes in the North and Bsharri, emphasizing support for the President’s reform initiatives and the recently passed banking legislation.

Additionally, President Aoun held discussions with Judge Rita Ghantous Karam, head of the Supreme Disciplinary Authority, and member Ali Merhi. They explored challenges faced by the authority and proposed measures to enhance its efficiency.
