Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received reports today from military and security bodies, Civil Defense, and the Lebanese Red Cross, indicating that New Year's Eve passed calmly and safely, owing to the security measures implemented by the Lebanese Army and other security forces across all Lebanese regions.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun congratulated all military and security personnel, as well as emergency and relief bodies, on the success of the measures and procedures adopted on New Year's Eve. He acknowledged the smooth coordination among them, which contributed to providing a safe and stable atmosphere for welcoming the New Year in peace and security.
Aoun expressed hope that the new year, 2026, will be one of goodness, security, and stability, fulfilling the aspirations of the Lebanese people. He emphasized the importance of healing the southern wound, ensuring the safe return of residents to southern villages, extending the Lebanese Army's sovereignty along the entire southern border, and freeing the hostages.
The President had personally checked on the operations rooms of the Internal Security Forces, Civil Defense, Lebanese Red Cross, and Lebanese Army on New Year's Eve. He was briefed firsthand on the security measures in place throughout Lebanon to maintain security during the celebrations.
