Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday received an official letter from Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko. The letter, delivered by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, invited President Aoun to visit Belarus, emphasizing a mutual desire to strengthen bilateral relations. Additionally, President Aoun expressed his gratitude for the recent donation of ambulances to Lebanon from Belarus.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, President Aoun also held a meeting with Minister of Information, Dr. Paul Morcos, to discuss issues pertaining to the Ministry of Information and T©l© Liban. They reviewed the progress of the new media law, which is currently under examination by Parliament’s Administration and Justice Committee. Dr. Morcos also informed President Aoun of his upcoming participation in the Arab Information Ministers Conference in Baghdad.
In separate discussions, President Aoun engaged with Imran Riza, Deputy UN Special Coordinator, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon. Their talks focused on the operations of UN agencies within Lebanon. Furthermore, General Security Director General Maj. Gen. Edgar Laounis also met with President Aoun to provide updates on the agency’s activities across various governorates, particularly highlighting ongoing efforts to combat corruption.
