Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday called for stricter enforcement of security measures during a high-level security meeting at Baabda Palace, urging increased deployment of military and security forces across Beirut and other regions. He stressed the need for close coordination among security apparatuses to ensure integrated action serving both nationals and citizens.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun also instructed authorities to intensify raids on positions suspected of housing weapons stockpiles, based on intelligence reports, and warned against any tolerance for armed displays "from any side whatsoever." He underscored that no party would be allowed to obstruct security measures or undermine stability, describing the preservation of civil peace as a "red line" at this critical stage.
The president praised the Lebanese Army's field efforts, particularly in reopening roads, repairing bridges, and facilitating the safe return of displaced residents to their regions.
