AUDI: WE CALL ON THE ARMY TO CONTROL THE BORDERS, AND THE STATE TO PUT AN END TO SMUGGLERS

Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Bishop of Beirut, Mgr. Elias Audi, called on the army to control the borders and the state to put an end to the actions of smugglers.

His words came in his homily this morning, as he presided over Sunday Mass service at Saint George Church in downtown Beirut.

Audi thanked the army for the efforts it exerted in the past few days in raiding gas stations and fuel storage places, stating that “its role is not to control the stations, but to control the borders, all borders, in order to protect the homeland and citizens, which is its mission alone.”

“The state’s duty is to put an end to the traders, monopolists and smugglers, and prevent them from exploiting citizens,” he said.

Audi raised prayers to the Lord Almighty to salvage the Lebanese who are almost drowning in difficulties and ordeals, stressing that certainly God hears our calls and answers in a timely manner.
