Beirut: Banque BEMO is placing culture at the core of its mission amidst Lebanon's multifaceted challenges, emphasizing the importance of culture as the soul of a living society.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the bank has rolled out a series of initiatives aimed at preserving memory, fostering creativity, empowering youth, and strengthening the bond between citizens and their heritage. This commitment is rooted in a belief that ethics and civic responsibility are vital for Lebanon's sustainable future.
The bank's initiatives include "The Wounded Art," which emerged after the August 4, 2020 tragedy. This project, in partnership with Fondation Audi, focuses on artworks damaged by the Beirut port explosion, treating them with light, music, and poetry. It draws inspiration from the Japanese art of Kintsugi and seeks to transform pain into collective memory and strength.
"Back to Our Cedar Roots" is another initiative by Banque BEMO, which involves planting cedar seedlings for children born to Lebanese mothers and non-Lebanese fathers. This campaign, in collaboration with "Jouzour Loubnan," symbolizes belonging and supports Lebanese women's rights to pass nationality to their children.
"Dreaming Lebanon," in partnership with several organizations, invites students to envision Lebanon's future through a writing competition. Now in its fourth edition, it encourages intergenerational dialogue and showcases the creativity of Lebanese youth.
The "Rotating Art" program, in collaboration with "Commercial Insurance," integrates art into daily life by circulating contemporary artworks in living and working spaces. This initiative supports local artists and makes art accessible to a broader audience.
The "BEMO Mini Forest," developed with "theOtherDada," aims to create micro-biodiversity spaces in urban settings, highlighting the importance of nature in everyday life. Banque BEMO's commitment to the environment is evident in this initiative.
Through the "B©chara and Carmen Obegi Prize," organized with the EC² at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Banque BEMO promotes entrepreneurship, innovation, and knowledge transfer, recognizing individuals who contribute to intellectual, economic, and social impact.
"BEMO Alumni" fosters a community spirit by connecting former bank members, emphasizing the value of family and continuity.
