Barbara Nassar Cancer Center Expands Free Services with New Therapeutic Room

Beirut:The Barbara Nassar Cancer Center, Lebanon's first specialized facility for cancer supportive care, is expanding its offerings this Breast Cancer Awareness Month by introducing a "Snoezelen Room." This development has been made possible through a donation from AstraZeneca.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the concept of the Snoezelen Room originates from the Netherlands and is named after Dutch words meaning "to explore" and "to doze." This room provides a multisensory therapeutic environment with soft lighting, soothing sounds, gentle textures, and calming sensory experiences designed to promote relaxation and emotional wellbeing.

Hani Nassar, President and Founder of the Barbara Nassar Association, stated, "Cancer care must go beyond medical treatment to address patients' physical and emotional needs." He emphasized that the free services offered by the center are due to the generosity of partners, donors, volunteers, and the wider community.

Agnar Aboujaoude, Country Director of AstraZeneca Lebanon, expressed the company's dedication to transforming cancer outcomes. He highlighted AstraZeneca's collaboration with the Barbara Nassar Cancer Center to raise awareness of early detection and support patients throughout their journey, aligning with the company's 2030 ambition to eliminate cancer as a cause of death.

The Barbara Nassar Association has been supporting adults affected by cancer in Lebanon since 2014. The Barbara Nassar Cancer Center, located in Achrafieh within the Azarieh campus, opened in January 2024. It offers free physical rehabilitation, psychological support, and wellness activities, fostering a community that aids healing and improves quality of life.
