Beirut: Free Patriotic Movement leader and MP Gebran Bassil on Thursday met with Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in the presence of Dr. Tarek Sadek, to discuss political developments and regional and international issues affecting Lebanon and the wider region.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, talks highlighted Qatar's role in supporting regional stability, particularly diplomatic efforts aimed at consolidating a ceasefire in Lebanon, reducing tensions, and promoting dialogue in the Gulf region through mediation and political solutions.

Discussions also focused on preserving Lebanon's stability, strengthening state institutions, and addressing ongoing security and economic challenges, with emphasis on respecting Lebanese sovereignty and implementing international resolutions.

Bassil praised Qatar's continued political, humanitarian, and developmental support for Lebanon, stressing the importance of sustained regional and international coordination to safeguard stability and prevent further escalation.

For his part, Ambassador Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to supporting Lebanon and working with regional and international partners to promote security, stability, and dialogue as the preferred path to resolving crises.
