Beirut: House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday met with Defence Minister, Michel Menassa, in Ain Al-Tineh to review the general situation, particularly security developments, the affairs of the military institution, and the political and field repercussions of Israel's escalating attacks on Lebanon.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Berri also received Deputy Head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib and later met former minister Wadih El Khazen. Following the meeting, Khazen said discussions focused on ongoing Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, national developments and upcoming political milestones. He said Berri stressed the importance of preserving the constitutional principles established by the Taif Agreement, particularly parity and balanced national partnership.
Berri also underscored the need for any diplomatic or political efforts to produce tangible results that safeguard Lebanese rights and help end ongoing Israeli attacks, while calling for dialogue and national unity to confront the country's political, economic and security challenges.
