Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh to discuss Lebanon's general situation and the latest political and field developments, particularly focusing on Israel's ongoing attacks on the south.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri also held discussions with Judge Suhail Abboud, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, during a New Year congratulatory visit. The meeting addressed judicial and legislative matters relevant to current national concerns.

Additionally, Speaker Berri welcomed Marwan Daher, President of the Tripoli Bar Association, along with a delegation of former deans and Bar Council members. The dialogue involved significant issues such as the strike by judicial assistants, the rights of judges and public sector employees, and prison overcrowding. Potential solutions to these humanitarian issues were explored, including the establishment of a joint committee between the Beirut and Tripoli Bar Associations to update laws and legislative matters governing the legal profession.

The discussions further focused on the precarious situation of buildings at risk of collapse in Tripoli, highlighting the urgent need for funds to ensure shelter, reinforcement, and restoration.
