Beirut: Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Thursday convened at the second presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh with Jean-Christophe Carret, the World Bank Country Director for the Middle East Department. The discussions centered around the World Bank’s programs focused on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Lebanon’s infrastructure.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Speaker Berri also hosted General Diodato Abagnara, the newly appointed commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. The meeting marked a protocol visit following General Abagnara’s recent assumption of duties. Discussions highlighted the field situation within UNIFIL’s operational area south of the Litani River.
In a separate engagement, Berri met with Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon, Arnout Pauwels, to deliberate on recent developments within Lebanon and the broader region. The dialogue also covered the bilateral relations between Belgium and Lebanon.
Further discussions were held with Public Health Minister, Dr. Rakan Nasreddine, focusing on political developments and issues pertinent to the healthcare and hospital sectors.
In legislative affairs, Speaker Berri signed ten laws that were approved during the legislative session on June 30 and July 1, 2025. These laws have been formally referred to the Cabinet for implementation.
