Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh, alongside Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani. The meeting focused on developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as the bilateral relationship between Lebanon and Iran.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Abbas Araghchi held a press conference following the meeting, describing his discussions with Lebanese officials as positive and constructive. He emphasized the mutual agreement to strengthen bilateral relations across various levels. Araghchi detailed his meetings with several key Lebanese figures, including the President of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, and others. He expressed Iran's support for Lebanon's independence, unity, and prosperity, highlighting the potential for enhanced economic and trade relations.
In a separate meeting, Speaker Berri received Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Hajjar at Ain al-Tineh. Their discussion covered the country's general situation, focusing on security and political conditions, as well as preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections. Minister Hajjar noted that his visit included New Year greetings and a comprehensive discussion on various issues, particularly the legislative elections.
Later, Berri also met with Mufti Sheikh Ahmed Taleb, continuing his engagements with key figures in Lebanon.
