Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Abdullah Bou Habib, on Friday welcomed the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Houssam Zaki, who briefed him on his talks with senior Lebanese officials about the impending presidential election.

“It is the Arab League’s duty to communicate with its Lebanese brothers, particularly the country’s political leaders. (…) We are very interested in helping Lebanon reach an understanding and consensus on the presidential election in before the set deadline expires. Of course, this will not be an easy matter due to discrepancy in stances, which is expected, but everything could be resolved through communication and dialogue,” Zaki said on emerging.
