Campaign for Return of Syrian Displaced Persons Calls for Enhanced Security at Lebanon’s Borders

Beirut: General Coordinator of the National Campaign for the Return of Syrian Displaced Persons, Maroun el-Khoury, expressed the campaign's deep concern over the swiftly evolving security and military developments along the Lebanese-Syrian border. These concerns arise amidst reports from regional and international media about military reinforcements and movements in the Qalamoun region and along the shared border.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, el-Khoury urged the Lebanese Cabinet, the Higher Defense Council, and the Lebanese Army Command to elevate military and security readiness along the borders. He emphasized the need to strengthen preventive and preemptive measures and to respond decisively to any developments on the ground to prevent the imposition of any new reality on Lebanon.

El-Khoury concluded by stating that the Lebanese people would not accept a return to foreign control or see their country become a battleground for regional conflicts. He called for unity behind the state institutions.
