Çavu?o?lu: No Casualties In Targeting The Turkish Ambassador’s Convoy In Khartoum

The Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavusoglu, confirmed that there were no injuries to any of the ambassador, the guards, or the special forces assigned to protect the ambassador’s convoy, as a result of the shooting incident that targeted the convoy of the Turkish ambassador in Khartoum, Ismail Çobanoglu.

Çavusoglu said in a press statement today, Saturday, that the clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces are taking place in the center of Khartoum and sometimes intensify in the streets surrounding the Turkish embassy.

He added, “We could not quickly provide some services to our citizens, especially in the early days, so that one of the citizens who took refuge in a house in a nearby street found it difficult to reach the embassy.”

He pointed out that there are violations of the ceasefire, and that each party accused the other of violating it, indicating that his ministry decided to move the embassy temporarily to the city of Port Sudan for the safety of the embassy and its employees.

Çavusoglu said, “Our ambassador, Ismail Çobanoglu, had previously discussed with the army and with the Rapid Support Forces, and they even provided assistance, but upon entering the street near the embassy, fire opened, but none of our friends, our ambassador, or the guards, including the special forces, were injured, but they were damages to the ambassador’s car.

He stressed that the talks are continuing with the two sides in order to find out who did this and why.
