Beirut: Director General of Lebanon's General Security, Major General Hassan Choucair, on Friday affirmed that the Lebanese Army was exerting tremendous efforts in the area south of the Litani River and has achieved a high level of success in carrying out its missions, particularly in maintaining security and stability under difficult conditions. He stressed that the army's performance reflects a major national effort aimed at safeguarding Lebanon and protecting its sovereignty.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Choucair underscored that one of the key priorities for the year 2026 was to reach a safe and dignified return for Syrian displaced persons to their country, on a voluntary basis and in coordination with the relevant international organizations and the Syrian authorities. He noted that General Security has played a central role in preparing and implementing the return plan, emphasizing that hundreds of thousands of Syrians have already returned through organized mechanisms.

Choucair also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen General Security's capabilities, including digital transformation, personnel reinforcement, and logistical upgrades, with the aim of improving services and enhancing national security in the coming phase.
