Contract Professors Threaten to Boycott Start of Lebanese University Academic Year

Beirut: The Lebanese University Hourly Contract Professors Committee warned that 1,690 contract instructors will boycott the start of the next academic year if the government fails to implement the long-delayed full-time appointment (tenure) plan.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the committee urged the government and Parliament to allocate the necessary funding in the 2026 supplementary budget, in line with Cabinet Decision No. 17, warning that excluding the measure would constitute a breach of official commitments. It stressed that classes will not begin until the decision is fully implemented and the list of eligible full-time professors is issued.
