Culture Minister Salameh Commences Jordan Visit with Lecture on Cultural Diplomacy

Amman:Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salameh, has initiated an official visit to Jordan, upon the invitation of Jordanian authorities. He began his visit by delivering a lecture titled "Cultural Diplomacy: Does It Succeed Where Politics Falters?" at the Lebanese Embassy in Amman.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the lecture was organized by the Lebanese-Jordanian Association and supported by Lebanon's Ambassador to Jordan, Brigitte Touq. Attendees included UN diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi, former Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher, Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, and various ministers, diplomats, cultural figures, and members of the Jordanian Senate.

Ambassador Touq welcomed Dr. Salameh, highlighting his influence and intellectual contributions, both in Lebanon and internationally. She emphasized his role in bridging culture and politics, praising his commitment to Lebanon's heritage and global engagement.

Dr. Salameh addressed the lecture's theme by discussing the Ministry of Culture's efforts in protecting Lebanon's archaeological heritage, particularly in the south, following recent conflicts. He highlighted a successful diplomatic initiative that led to UNESCO's enhanced protection of 73 Lebanese heritage sites, aiming to extend this protection further.

Following the lecture, a reception was held in his honor at the embassy. Minister Salameh also met with Senator Haifa Al Najjar and Senator Michel Nehme, and he is scheduled for further meetings with Jordanian ministers.
