EDUCATION MINISTER CHAIRS ADMINISTRATIVE MEETING TO FOLLOW UP ON PROVIDING TEACHERS WITH INCENTIVES

Minister of Education, Dr. Abbas Al-Halabi, on Tuesday chaired an expanded administrative and educational meeting, during which he stressed the paramount importance of aptly running public facilities, especially schools “to properly carry out their duties and obtain their dues.”

In this framework, the Minister has taken the initiative to transfer school fund dues and has tasked concerned administrations to grant teachers and workers their rights, making sure that transfers would not be delayed to each teacher’s personal account.

Al-Halabi then pointed out that he had agreed with the Central Bank Governor to raise the ceiling of withdrawals for schools to be able to pay teachers and staff their dues.

“LBP 313 billion have been transferred to school funds to cover the operating expenses, and LBP 9 billion have been transferred to cover financial incentives for teachers for the months of October and November 2021,” the Minister added. Minister Al-Halabi separately met with a delegation comprising heads of educational bodies at the Lebanese Forces.

The delegation wished the minister success in carrying out his duties.
