Energy Minister Denies Claims of Government Inaction on Qatari Power Proposal

Beirut: Minister of Energy and Water, Joe Saddi, issued a statement on Monday refuting media reports that alleged the Lebanese government has failed to act on a Qatari proposal to build two power plants; one gas-powered and another based on renewable energy.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, some media outlets have claimed that a long-standing Qatari offer to establish two electricity generation facilities remains stalled and ignored by the current government, despite still being valid according to certain sources. Saddi clarified that the government was actively coordinating with all parties offering assistance to Lebanon, including the State of Qatar.

Saddi noted, “President Joseph Aoun visited Doha, followed by my own visit as Minister of Energy and Water, to explore avenues of cooperation and strategic partnership for Lebanon’s benefit,” dismissing the narrative of governmental inaction as “a baseless fabrication.”
