Beirut: The European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele, met with President Joseph Aoun to discuss the EU's stance on the latest developments affecting the country. Ambassador De Waele emphasized the EU's ongoing commitment to supporting Lebanon during this critical period.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Ambassador De Waele expressed her condolences for the loss of innocent Lebanese lives. She also voiced approval of the Lebanese government's recent decisions, which resonate with the EU's established policy on Hezbollah. This policy involves a ban on Hezbollah's military wing while distinguishing it from the political wing.
Ambassador De Waele reiterated the EU's call for respect towards Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, urging for a reduction in regional tensions. During the discussions, she listened to the Lebanese presidency's needs and assured the EU's continued support for the nation.
