FM takes part in next Arab summit’s preparatory meeting in Jeddah

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, took part in the opening session of the Arab League’s meeting, in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Wednesday, in preparation for holding 32nd regular Arab summit next Friday. Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Ataf, whose country chaired the previous summit, handed over presidency of 2023 session to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. In his speech, Ataf called on resolving Arab differences, adding that the upcoming summit seeks to achieve pan-Arab unity to face the region’s challenges. Ataf added that Arab countries should focus on joint Arab action to address global challenges, and pay attention to the world developments. Meanwhile, the League’s Secretary-General, Ahmed Abu Gheit, said all Arab countries will attend Jeddah summit, welcoming Syria’s return to its seat in the bloc. Aboul Gheit noted Israeli government is held accountable for the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories.
