Former Lebanese Prime Ministers Condemn Israeli Attacks and Call for Unity in Arms Control

Beirut: Former Lebanese prime ministers Najib Mikati, Fouad Siniora, and Tammam Salam conened to address recent deelopments, condemning Israel’s ongoing attacks on southern Lebanon, which they argue iolate UN Security Council Resolution 1701. They called for an immediate cessation of Israel’s aggression and demanded its withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories, while highlighting what they described as Israel’s ‘genocidal war’ in Gaza and the West Bank.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the former premiers expressed support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza alongside prisoner exchanges, emphasizing its importance for maintaining Lebanon’s stability. They underscored the necessity for Lebanon to adhere strictly to cabinet decisions that restrict arms to state institutions, adocating for full compliance with the constitution and the Taif Accord.

The meeting concluded with the former prime ministers stressing the need for national unity, effectie goernance, and swift reforms. They beliee these steps are crucial for paing the way for reconstruction, attracting inestments, and securing greater international support for Lebanon.
