French MEP Praises Resilience of Southern Lebanese Communities After Meeting Patriarch Al-Rahi

Bkerke: Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, received Fran§ois-Xavier Bellamy, the head of the Lebanese-French relations delegation and Member of the European Parliament, at the Patriarchal See in Bkerke. Bellamy expressed admiration for the residents of several southern border villages in Lebanon who have chosen to remain on their land despite facing significant threats to their safety.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Bellamy commended the resilience of the Lebanese population, highlighting their determination to keep educational institutions open for their children amidst challenging conditions. He emphasized the significance of meeting with His Beatitude, Cardinal Al-Rahi, to discuss Lebanon's current situation. Bellamy acknowledged the suffering endured by the Lebanese people, while expressing hope for a swift resolution to their hardships.

Bellamy further elaborated on his discussions with Patriarch Al-Rahi, underscoring the critical importance of restoring peace in Lebanon. Despite existing concerns, he highlighted the necessity of maintaining hope for the success of ongoing negotiations and the potential for initiating much-needed reforms within the country.
