Beirut: In his Eid al-Adha message, Jaafari Mufti Ahmad Qabalan highlighted the significant political and military changes unfolding in the Middle East, asserting that the U.S.-backed Israeli confrontation with Iran had not succeeded, while Hezbollah maintained its position along Lebanon’s southern border.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Qabalan emphasized the importance of national unity for Lebanon and the need to avoid internal discord, especially amid the current regional instability. He criticized Lebanese authorities for what he viewed as excessive concessions to Washington and indirect dealings linked to Tel Aviv, while commending the “resistance” for its role in safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Qabalan further argued that the security and territorial integrity of Lebanon rely on both the resistance and the Lebanese Army. He warned that any attempts to weaken either entity or involve the army in agendas backed by foreign interests could lead to national destabilization.
In his address to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Qabalan called on him to function as a unifying figure capable of maintaining Lebanon’s internal unity during these turbulent times. He also praised Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, recognizing him as a vital player in ensuring dialogue and upholding national stability.
Qabalan concluded by advocating for a Saudi-Iranian agreement, stating that such an understanding is crucial to alleviating tensions in Lebanon and the broader region, and to thwart further escalations influenced by external powers.
