Geagea Congratulates Saddi on Appointment of Electricity Regulatory Authority

Beirut: Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea has publicly congratulated Energy Minister Joe Saddi for his swift action in completing all necessary procedures to appoint the Electricity Regulatory Authority. Geagea expressed his congratulations via a post on his X account, highlighting the significance of this achievement, which had been delayed for 23 years.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Geagea praised Saddi for overcoming longstanding obstacles and refusals that have historically prevented the establishment of this authority. The Electricity Regulatory Authority was originally mandated by Electricity Regulatory Law 462/2002, yet its implementation had been obstructed by various ministers over the years. Geagea criticized past administrations for turning the electricity sector into a domain serving their interests, while ordinary Lebanese citizens have suffered from inadequate electricity services.

Geagea’s statement acknowledged the impact of the prolonged delay on the Lebanese population, who have endured years of unreliable electricity supply. He emphasized that the establishment of the Electricity Regulatory Authority marks a crucial step towards reforming the sector and alleviating the hardships faced by citizens.
