Gemayel Asserts Kataeb’s Stance on Disarmament Means, Not Principles

Beirut: “Kataeb neither compromises nor surrenders,” affirmed Gemayel, says “Discussion on means and not principle of disarmament required.” The Kataeb Party leader, MP Sami Gemayel, emphasized the steadfast role of the party in Lebanon’s political landscape during a speech marking the 50th anniversary of the Lebanese resistance’s launch. Held at the Chiyah Municipal Stadium in Ain el-Rummaneh, the event underscored the party’s historical commitment and future aspirations for the nation.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Gemayel called on the Lebanese populace to embrace a renewed national vision, urging unity under the state’s umbrella. He emphasized the importance of aligning with ongoing governmental and presidential reforms, aiming to secure Lebanon’s future. Gemayel highlighted the international community’s willingness to support Lebanon, contingent on the nation assuming its responsibilities, marking this as a pivotal moment to rebuild a prosperous future for coming generations.

Gemayel stressed the necessity for a focused dialogue on disarmament methods, rather than questioning its principles. He stated that the constitutional, legal, and international frameworks have already settled the matter of handing over weapons. The dialogue, he insisted, should be between the state, led by President Joseph Aoun, and the government, directly addressing Hezbollah concerning the disarmament method.

Highlighting past conflicts, Gemayel attributed the outbreak of war to the presence of illegal weapons, advocating for state sovereignty as the sole protector of national security and the well-being of future generations.
