Beirut: Kataeb Party leader MP Sami Gemayel has voiced strong criticism against Iran, asserting that the nation has never provided protection for Lebanon. Instead, he claims, Iran has used Lebanon as a battleground for its own wars and diplomatic negotiations. In a post on "X," Gemayel argued that Iran is not defending the Lebanese people but rather its military presence in Lebanon, intending to leverage it when advantageous, even at the cost of destruction in the South and Lebanon as a whole.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Gemayel emphasized the need to end what he describes as Iranian tutelage. He advocates for restricting weaponry to the Lebanese army, empowering the state to reclaim full sovereignty. Gemayel also called for the liberation of Lebanese land through diplomatic means and the reconstruction of areas he believes have been devastated by Iran's influence through Hezbollah over the years.
