Beirut: Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Hajjar met with the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah, and the Internal Security Forces Command Council at his office in the ministry. During the meeting, the officials extended their holiday congratulations.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting focused on reviewing security procedures and measures to be implemented on New Year's Eve. Minister Hajjar emphasized the importance of readiness and maintaining a responsible and disciplined approach during celebrations across various Lebanese regions. He highlighted the necessity of deploying a significant number of personnel to ensure security, public order, and safety.
Minister Hajjar stressed the importance of focusing on road safety by intensifying on-the-ground efforts to reduce traffic accidents and enforce the law to ensure citizens' safety on New Year's Eve. He also highlighted the need for full coordination among all security agencies to ensure an immediate response to emergencies and guarantee public road safety.
The Minister underscored the importance of enhancing security intelligence to prevent breaches, particularly celebratory gunfire, and emphasized pursuing offenders and referring them to judicial authorities. Additionally, he called for continued efforts to combat crimes such as robbery and theft, advocating for zero tolerance in apprehending perpetrators.
