Beirut: Health Minister, Rakan Nassereddine, on Tuesday said the country needs to review and reassess the healthcare sector in light of the challenges posed by successive conflicts, crises, and wars, stressing the importance of identifying gaps and strengthening existing capacities and resources.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Nassereddine, in an interview with Al-Resala Radio, highlighted a workshop titled "From Review to Reform," organized by the Ministry of Public Health in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the European Union. This initiative aims to develop a future health roadmap for Lebanon based on the national health strategy.

He emphasized that the next phase requires a comprehensive vision encompassing universal health coverage, access to medicines, the development of hospital services, protection of vulnerable groups, and stronger cooperation with international partners. Furthermore, the reform agenda will examine healthcare financing, financial management, and budgeting mechanisms to help build a more sustainable and resilient health system capable of responding to future crises.
