Beirut: The Health Ministry on Tuesday launched a workshop titled "From Review to Reform" to assess progress on the National Health Strategy 2030 and set priorities for the next phase of healthcare reform. Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine emphasized that the review comes in the wake of numerous challenges, including economic collapse, epidemics, conflict, and displacement, yet highlighted that reforms have persisted despite these crises.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Minister Nassereddine noted significant progress in several areas. These include the establishment of the National Medicines Agency, rehabilitation of the central public health laboratory, and the expansion of full hospital coverage for uninsured patients at public hospitals. The minister also mentioned efforts in strengthening emergency preparedness and primary healthcare, as well as advancements in digital health.

European Union representative Alessandra Viezzer expressed the EU's continued support for Lebanon's health reforms. In addition, acting World Health Organization representative Yutaro Setoya emphasized the need for stronger and more resilient health systems that can address challenges posed by artificial intelligence, climate change, and future crises.

The workshop included technical sessions focused on identifying implementation priorities for the ministry's 2030 strategy, aiming to ensure the robustness and sustainability of Lebanon's healthcare system.
