Beirut: Deir ez-Zor International Airport resumed humanitarian flights on Monday morning, receiving the first World Food Programme flight carrying a delegation headed by WFP Country Director Marianne Ward, Russia Today reported.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, during a field visit accompanied by airport director Firas al-Azzawi, the delegation inspected the airport's facilities and equipment and reviewed operational procedures across its various sections. Discussions also focused on ways to strengthen coordination and ensure the smooth handling of humanitarian operations through the airport.

The move marks the resumption of humanitarian air traffic to Deir ez-Zor, enhancing the ability of relief organizations to reach the area, transport aid and humanitarian personnel, and expand the scope of relief operations.
