Indian Embassy Commemorates Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary with Initiatives in South Lebanon

Beirut:The Indian Embassy marked Mahatma Gandhi's 157th birth anniversary and the International Day of Non-Violence with a series of events in Beirut and Ibl al-Saqi.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Ambassador Noor Rahman Sheikh emphasized Gandhi's enduring principles of truth and non-violence. An updated Arabic edition of a book detailing Gandhi's life was also launched during the celebrations.

In South Lebanon, the embassy collaborated with the Indian UNIFIL contingent to organize a "Unity for Peace" march and a ceremony at Mahatma Gandhi Park.

Ambassador Sheikh announced India's intention to double the number of fully funded ITEC training opportunities for Lebanese civilians, increasing from 75 to 150 seats. He also highlighted ongoing local development projects as part of the embassy's commitment to strengthening cooperation.
