Beirut: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) says they have targeted an oil tanker, Prima, in the Gulf with a drone "after ignoring repeated warnings from the IRGC Navy regarding the prohibition of traffic and the unsafe nature of the Strait of Hormuz", according to the Tasnim news agency. The report stated that the incident against "the offending tanker" occurred "minutes ago" this morning.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the tanker Prima is identified as an oil and chemical vessel sailing under the flag of Malta. The attack highlights ongoing tensions in the region, particularly concerning the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor for global oil shipments. The IRGC's actions reflect their continued enforcement of navigational regulations in the area, particularly amidst international concerns regarding maritime security.
