“IS IT POSSIBLE FOR A SANE PERSON TO FOLLOW THAT WHO RENDERED THE COUNTRY A FARM?” QUESTIONS AUDI

Metropolitan Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch for the Archdiocese of Beirut, Elias Audi, wondered in his religious sermon during Sunday Mass at Saint George’s Cathedral this morning, “how possible could it ever be for a sane person to follow those who have rendered the country a farm, humans as slaves and morals a corrupt commodity?”

“Our country is enduring its current ordeals because everyone is compromising righteousness, their dignity and the dignity of the citizen,” he said.

“Freedom and democracy in Lebanon are nothing but empty words, for democracy only accompanies a free, noble soul that respects oneself and respects others,” Audi asserted.

The Bishop urged the Lebanese to be loyal and supportive to one another and to their country, saying: “Love your brethrens who need you most, and do not abuse them, imitating the unjust, who only care about themselves by securing what they eat, what they drink, and what they store…”
