Damascus: Israeli military sources said Israel has established discreet communication channels with Turkey aimed at preventing further tensions following Israeli strikes on a Syrian military base in recent days. The sources said Israel does not want Turkey to become an adversary and that the back-channel contacts are being used to exchange messages and reduce the risk of unintended confrontation.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Israel targeted the Abu al-Duhur air base in Syria on Tuesday, saying it would not accept a Turkish military presence near its borders. Turkey subsequently denied having forces at the targeted facility, confirming that no Turkish military delegation was present at the Syrian air base either before or during the Israeli strikes. Damascus also rejected claims that Ankara was seeking to establish a permanent military presence on Syrian territory.
