Israeli Alert to Airlines Signals Possible Security Escalation

Tel aviv: The head of the Israeli Civil Aviation Authority, Shmuel Zakai, has highlighted a critical period for international flights, suggesting a potential security escalation in the region. In a letter to foreign airlines operating flights to Ben Gurion Airport, Zakai emphasized that the upcoming weekend, January 31 and February 1, may mark the start of a more sensitive period in terms of security.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the letter stated that if Israeli airspace were to close, foreign flights departing from Israel would receive priority. This measure aims to facilitate the departure of international airlines and their passengers in such an event.
