Tel aviv: Israeli media reported the implementation of emergency measures following joint US-Israeli strikes targeting multiple locations across Iran on Saturday, with officials warning that several days of military operations may lie ahead.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, citing a security official, Israeli media indicated that intensive strikes are expected to continue, marking a significant escalation in tensions. Israeli news outlet Yedioth Ahronoth reported that at least 30 sites across Iran were attacked, including the Iranian leader's residence and the Islamic Revolution Guard's intelligence headquarters. Other outlets in and outside the occupied Palestinian territories confirmed, citing US officials, that the strikes were carried out with Washington's backing.
Israeli Security Minister Yisrael Katz declared a special and immediate state of emergency following the strikes. An IOF spokesperson told Israeli media that "Following a situation assessment, it was decided that, effective today (Saturday) at 8:00 AM, the Home Front Command's defense policy will be changed. As part of these changes, the entire country will be moved from a full state of alert to a state of essential alert. The instructions include a ban on educational activities, gatherings, and going to workplaces, with the exception of vital sectors." The measures suspend educational activities, prohibit public gatherings, and restrict access to workplaces except for essential services.
Israeli authorities also closed the airspace and halted civilian flights as part of the emergency response. Sirens were activated in several areas, and residents were instructed to remain near protected spaces and bomb shelters. Israeli officials were reported to be heading to the Kirya in Tel Aviv to hold urgent security consultations.
Channel 12 reported that hospitals are preparing for a possible Iranian response, noting that Tel Hashomer Hospital has begun transferring departments to protected shelters. Iranian officials have signaled that retaliation is expected, vowing a strong response to the strikes. The statements have heightened concerns of a broader confrontation in the region as Israeli media warn that additional rounds of attacks may follow.
